How to Make Vanilla French Beignets
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
Lightly flour a clean surface to prevent sticking. Turn the dough out onto the floured surface.
Roll the dough to about 1/2 inch thick and cut into squares or rectangles.
Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat.
Carefully drop a few pieces of dough into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side.
Use a slotted spoon to remove beignets from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate.
While still warm, generously dust beignets with powdered sugar.
Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For the best results, measure ingredients accurately and avoid overworking the dough. Serve beignets warm for optimal enjoyment.
