Ingredients

For the Beef
  • 1 pound Beef sirloin choose high-quality cuts
For the Stir-Fry
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil for frying
  • 4 cloves Garlic fresh minced
  • 1 medium Red bell pepper
For the Sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Fish sauce just a dash
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
For the Thickening
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
For the Fresh Touch
  • 1 cup Thai basil leaves use sweet basil as a substitute if needed
For Serving
  • 1 teaspoon Chili flakes optional
  • 4 cups Jasmine rice cooked

Method

Steps to Cook
  1. Slice the Beef: Thinly slice the beef sirloin against the grain and set aside.
  2. Prep the Veggies: Mince the garlic and slice the red bell pepper.
  3. Heat the Skillet: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the Beef: Add the sliced beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove from skillet.
  5. Sauté the Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and bell pepper. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Combine Everything: Return the beef, add sauces, brown sugar, and chili flakes, and stir well.
  7. Thicken the Sauce: Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for another minute.
  8. Add the Basil: Stir in the fresh Thai basil leaves until they wilt slightly.
  9. Serve it Up: Serve hot over jasmine rice.
