Method
Making the Bread
In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, the packet of instant yeast, salt, and sugar.
Pour in the warm water and olive oil, stirring until the dough comes together.
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes.
Place your dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
In a small bowl, mix together your softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, rosemary, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt.
Once your dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to a rectangle about 12 × 18 inches.
Evenly spread the garlic herb butter mixture over the rolled-out dough, then sprinkle with shredded cheese.
Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough into a tight log.
Slice your log in half lengthwise to reveal the beautiful swirls, then twist the two halves together.
Place your twisted bread on a greased baking sheet or a parchment-lined loaf pan and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Pop the bread into the oven and bake for 30–35 minutes.
Once baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes.
Slice into your masterpiece and serve warm.
Notes
Optional: Brush the top with melted butter before serving for an extra touch of richness.
