Method
How to Make Smash Burger
Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions, about 4 ounces each. Gently form these into loose balls.
Preheat your skillet! Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle on medium-high until very hot.
Smash each beef ball onto the hot skillet using a spatula. Press until they're about 1/2 inch thick.
Season immediately with salt and pepper.
Cook the patties without moving them for 2–3 minutes until the edges are brown.
Flip the patties carefully and place a slice of cheese on top of each. Cook for another 1–2 minutes.
Toast the buns in the skillet until golden brown.
Assemble the smash burgers by layering cooked patties on the buns, adding toppings.
Serve hot and enjoy with your favorite sides.
Notes
Optional: Add crispy bacon for extra flavor!
