How to Make
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Whisk together the egg and water in a small bowl to create an egg wash.
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Brush the rolled pastry generously with the egg wash.
Sprinkle the white cheddar, black pepper, and an optional pinch of salt evenly over the pastry.
Fold the pastry in half, then gently roll it out again to seal the layers together. Cut the dough into 1/2-inch strips.
Twist each strip a few times and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with additional egg wash.
Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.

Pair these cheese straws with a spicy dipping sauce for an extra kick! Ensure your puff pastry is cold before rolling for better flakiness.
