Ingredients

For the Crust
  • 1 loaf Frozen bread dough ideal for a quick-and-easy homemade base
For the Sausage Mixture
  • 1 pound Hot Italian sausage can substitute with mild sausage
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil used for cooking
For the Spinach Filling
  • 1 cup Frozen chopped spinach thaw and drain well
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder or use fresh onions if preferred
  • 1 teaspoon Salt adjust based on taste
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder with parsley fresh garlic works beautifully
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper fresh ground is best
For the Toppings
  • 2 medium Plum tomatoes optional, for added freshness
  • 6 slices Sliced provolone cheese melts beautifully
  • 1 cup Shredded mozzarella cheese classic pizza choice
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan cheese for topping
For Garnishing
  • 1/4 cup Fresh basil for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons Additional grated Parmesan for extra flavor

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease your baking sheet or pizza pan.
  2. Cook the Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove excess fat and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, heat olive oil and add the thawed, drained spinach. Season with onion powder, salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and black pepper, cooking for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Roll out the thawed bread dough on a floured surface to fit your pan and transfer it to the greased baking sheet.
  5. Layer the cooked sausage over the dough, followed by the sautéed spinach mixture.
  6. Top with sliced provolone, shredded mozzarella, and grated Parmesan cheese. Optionally, layer sliced tomatoes on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the crust is golden brown.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and additional grated Parmesan before serving.

Notes
