Method

How to Make Dulce de Leche Lava Cake
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Grease four 6-ounce ramekins generously with butter and dust with flour.
  3. Melt the butter and chopped chocolate together in a microwave-safe bowl.
  4. Whisk the eggs, egg yolks, and granulated sugar in a separate bowl until combined.
  5. Combine the melted chocolate mixture with the egg mixture, stirring until smooth.
  6. Fold in the flour and salt gently until just combined.
  7. Portion a small amount of the chocolate batter into each ramekin, filling them about one-third full.
  8. Spoon approximately 1 tablespoon of dulce de leche into the center of each ramekin.
  9. Cover the dulce de leche with more chocolate batter until the ramekins are about three-quarters full.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes.
  11. Cool the cakes for about 1-2 minutes once removed from the oven.
  12. Loosen the cakes by carefully running a knife around the edges of the ramekins.
  13. Dust with powdered sugar for a sweet finishing flourish.
  14. Serve warm alongside fresh berries and a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
