Preparation
Pour buttermilk over the chicken strips in a bowl, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Crush Cool Ranch Doritos into fine crumbs using a food processor or rolling pin.
In a shallow dish, combine crushed Doritos, flour, and optional ranch seasoning mix.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
Remove chicken from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge in Doritos-flour mixture.
Carefully add chicken strips to hot oil in batches. Fry for about 3–5 minutes per side until golden brown.
Transfer chicken strips to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
Notes
For maximum flavor, marinate chicken in buttermilk for at least one hour or overnight if possible. Crush Doritos into fine crumbs for better adherence.
