Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy for about 2-3 minutes.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Include the vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients gradually, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared cake pan.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and center is set.
Cool the cookie cake in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Beat the softened butter for the frosting in a mixing bowl until creamy.
Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until combined. Pour in the vanilla extract and heavy cream to reach desired consistency.
Whip until the frosting is light and fluffy.
Spread the frosting evenly on top of your completely cooled cookie cake.
Decorate with sprinkles if desired.
Cut into wedges and serve your delightful Cookie Cake.
