Ingredients

For the Oats
  • 1 cup Rolled oats providing fiber and heartiness
  • 1 cup Milk dairy or non-dairy
  • 1/2 cup Yogurt plain or vanilla
For Sweetening and Flavor
  • 1/2 cup Raisins adds a burst of fruitiness
  • 2 tablespoons Honey or maple syrup to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon infuses warmth and spice
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract elevates the flavor profile
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt enhances all the sweet flavors
For Topping (Optional)
  • 1/4 cup Chopped nuts such as walnuts or pecans

Equipment

  • Medium bowl or mason jar

Method

Making the Oats
  1. In a medium bowl or a mason jar, mix together the rolled oats, milk, yogurt, and vanilla extract until everything is well combined and coated.
  2. Add in the honey (or maple syrup), ground cinnamon, salt, and raisins, stirring until all the ingredients are evenly mixed and the oats are nicely coated.
  3. Cover the bowl or jar with a lid or plastic wrap. Place it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the oats to soak up all that delicious flavor and soften.
  4. In the morning, give the oats a good stir. If they’re too thick, add a splash of milk to get the creamy consistency you love.
  5. Spoon the oats into bowls or jars, and feel free to top with chopped nuts or extra raisins if you wish. You can enjoy them cold or pop them in the microwave for a warm embrace of comfort.
