  • 1 tbsp Honey or sugar for sweetness
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil enriches the sauce
  • 2 cloves Minced garlic
  • 1 inch Minced ginger adds warmth
  • 1/4 cup Water to thin the sauce

Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Pot
  • whisk
  • serving plate
  • Baking sheet

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mix the ground chicken, green onions, minced garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until everything is evenly combined and flavorful.
  2. Lay a few wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Keep the rest covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying out while you work.
  3. Place about 1 teaspoon of the chicken filling in the center of each wrapper.
  4. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water, fold in half to form a triangle, and press out any air. Pinch the edges firmly to seal, then bring the two corners together and pinch to secure. Repeat until all wrappers are filled.
  5. Bring a large pot of water to a vigorous boil and gently drop the wontons in. Cook for 4–5 minutes until they float to the surface and are cooked through. Alternatively, you can steam them for 6–8 minutes for a different texture. Drain thoroughly.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, honey, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. If the sauce is too thick, add a spoonful of water to thin it to your desired consistency.
  7. Arrange your beautifully cooked wontons on a serving plate.
  8. Pour the spicy chili sauce generously over the wontons or serve it on the side for dipping.
  9. If you're feeling fancy, sprinkle some chopped green onions or sesame seeds on top for extra flavor and crunch.
  10. Serve warm and savor every delicious bite of your homemade chicken wontons!
