  • 1 each Egg optional for golden finish
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese optional for flavor kick

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper

Method

Preparing Cheesy Pesto Rolls
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder (if using) in a mixing bowl.
  3. Combine in the shredded mozzarella cheese and olive oil until well blended.
  4. Add water gradually, one tablespoon at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Spread the pesto evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  7. Roll the dough from one long edge into a tight log, pinching the edges to seal.
  8. Slice the rolled dough into 1-inch pieces and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Brush the tops with beaten egg if desired, then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Cool the rolls for a few minutes on a wire rack.
  12. Serve warm as an appetizer or snack, with marinara sauce for dipping.
