How to Make Cheese Straws with Poppy Seeds
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix in a large bowl the flour and cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Combine in a separate bowl the eggs and sour cream by beating them together. Pour this mixture into the flour mixture.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
Cut the dough into strips using a knife or pizza cutter.
Brush each strip with the beaten egg and sprinkle with toppings like poppy seeds.
Bake the cheese straws in your preheated oven for 18–22 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
Notes
Serve warm with a tangy dip for an extra flavor boost. For best results, use cold butter. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
